Senior Classes
Our Senior Judo class meets on a Wednesday evening for
High School Pupils, Teenagers and Adults from 8-9pm

Classes stop for the school holidays.

Beginners welcome at the start of the school term or by arrangement with the senior coach by clicking  here.

The generic format of the class is as follows:

Rei: The class register is taken then the formal bow is taken to show mutual respect between teachers and students.

Warm up: Judo specific warm up to improve speed, balance and flexibility to protect the body from injury and prepare the body for learning Judo.

Judo Technique: Learn a new judo throw or hold down, linking throws together or focusing on grading work based on the syllabus.

Randori: Free practice fighting - to try out Judo techniques in a non competitive controlled environment.

Warm down and rei: For injury prevention and to bring the class to a ordered close.

Judokas wishing to compete in competition should ensure they understand the rules and information contained in our competitive Judo web page .

Technical Gradings
Technical gradings are held within the club and run in conjunction with Judo Scotland, the sport's national federation.  Every club member must hold a Judo Scotland licence, there are no exceptions. This licence provides a record of your progress in Judo as well as providing you with insurance cover. As each new technical grade is achieved children under sixteen recieve a certificate, Mon badge and if appropriate a new coloured belt. Players over sixteen use the Adult Kyu Grading system and recieve a certificate and a new belt if appropriate.  Club membership fees include two gradings per year, one in Spring and one in Autumn.
