Welcome to Peebles Judo Club

Making falling fun since 1999!

Peebles Judo Club was formed in 1999 by Colin Aitken (4th Dan) and has been thriving as a club for twelve years.  The club is run as a non profit organisation, for the benefit of all its members. We cater for around 100 judo players at present ranging in ages from 8 years to 70 years old with the majority being children.

Please take the time to fully explore our website where you will learn more about this fascinating sport which traces its roots back to the ancient Samurai techniques of Feudal Japan.

General Club information:

Colin is assisted by qualified coaches and parent helpers, the club offers three classes on Wednesday evenings at the Gytes Sports Centre in Peebles, divided as follows:

Junior Class             - Primary 4 and Primary 5 at 6:15pm to 7:00pm

 Intermediate Class - Primary 6 and Primary 7 at 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Senior Class           - Secondary S1 to S6 and adults at 8:00pm to 9:00pm.

You are welcome to try a session of judo for free, before deciding if it's for you. Beginners start lessons at the start of each school term.

During the classes, you will be taught the principles of Judo and practice the new techniques you have learnt in class. All judokas who join the club must become members of Judo Scotland. Once registered, you will receive a license book and red belt and be eligible for Judo Gradings.  Club gradings are held twice a year.

Coaches are always available on a Wednesday night so come and have a chat or contact us here .
